I started the gym in early 2016, my goal was to bring what I had learned during my education at CMU and from my previous coaching experience in Colorado to provide Sweetwater County with a better option for fitness. I played multiple sports growing up here locally in Green River including football, basketball, soccer, track, & motocross. I was fortunate enough to go play college football for Carroll College for two years, then 1 year at Colorado Mesa University where I finished my degree. I met the woman of my dreams at CMU and we have been married now going on 4 years. We just recently had our first baby who we are obsessed with.
I started college with the intent to be a nurse. Throughout those first couple of years in college, I was also playing College Football. This is where I really found a passion for training. During school I wasn't enjoying it, I ultimately think because I wasn't committed to being a nurse. During that time of college football, and finding my own physical and emotional transformation through training I fell in love with it. I loved being able to see what came out on the other side of working your tail off. I ended up stumbling upon CrossFit on youtube and ended up trying a workout at the local CrossFit Gym in Helena, MT. It crushed me, here I was in the best shape of my life "So I thought". It wasn't that I was SO SORE, it was the fact there was a lot of stuff, I just could not do. It made me ask myself "how fit am I really?". I mean I could hardly overhead squat the PVC pipe. Meanwhile, these CrossFit guys are Overhead squatting 300lbs on youtube at the CrossFit Games... Long story here but the point I decided there was a major hole in my fitness, and I was going to do something about it. The body-building style at the big globo gym just wasn't what I wanted to pursue. I wanted to be strong, healthy, agile, fast, and able to endure. The CrossFit style of training ultimately supports the active lifestyle I try to live now hunting, mountain biking, and snowmobiling.
I coach to change the way people think about health and fitness. I decided early on in college that being a nurse is not going to be the way I can help change the world. Sounds silly, but many times people that have ended up in the hospital are not going to change, I want to try and catch people before so they don't end up there in the first place. I strive to make everyone feel comfortable in our gym, and truly enjoy that hour they spend with us. I truly enjoy coaching all walks of life from our local High School athletes, to the 65-year-old couple just trying to stay active so they can enjoy life with their grandkids. The people are what keep me coming back.
